The secret for a good recipe: high quality ingredients, right quantity and proper order of dosing.

I cinque elementi della pittura

Water
To solubilize all raw materials.

Additives
In small quantities to confer special features as:  brushability, shelf-life, defoaming effect and so on....

Fillers
Natural mineral powders to yield thickness and filling effect.

Pigments
Inorganic and organic colorants to tint the product. The most used pigment is the titanium dioxide to obtain the white colour.

Binders
Resins to yield resistance, permeability and color stability

The difference between a paint for indoor and one for outdoor, between a quartz product and a plastic coating, between siloxane and silicate etc … depends on the different quantities of all combined
ingredients.

Formulations of outdoor or high quality products generally contain more binder and a less filler. On the contrary, indoor products contain less resin and more filler.

The same for the titanium dioxide content: according to used quantities, products characterized by different whiteness and hiding power (higher or lower) can be obtained.
